Since i am not going to upgrade to ddr or qdr until a few months, would it be good to get pc166 or would it even be worth it? Would there be any signs of improvement or not? Let me know what your guys think.

You should be able to get the FSB higher with PC166 than PC133. Basically all PC166 is is PC133 that's been tested to overclock to 166Mhz. If you're not able to get to that FSB, then it's not worth it. Unless you're going for ultra severe BIOS memory settings, then it may be worth it also.

how would i know if i did that? I have the Asus A7V133 and looked in the bios and it had dram frequency that was stuck at 133 and then above that was cpu frequency which goes to 166. would that be it?

When you set your FSB over 133 you Ram goes also out of spec. So if you use generic PC 133 Ram you might end up with something like 140. When using quality PC 166 you might get your FSB up to this region. But you might have to lower your multiplier. This will help your overall system performance.

I think it's a moot point anyway. Where are you gonna get PC166 ram anymore? Tonicom ram used to do this, but recent batches have not been up to par so nobody sells them anymore.

I believe Mushkin Rev. 3 might do 160 2-2-2 at best, but they are expensive.

Crucial PC-133 might do 150 3-2-2 or 2-2-2 if you're lucky.
