Development Server ??

So, I am looking to set up a small dev server in my office to do testing on. I have a 750 Athlon set up for the task, and am wondering what would be the easiest way to go about it.

The machine will not run XP Pro, so IIS is out of the question. I have been playing around with linux (Suse and Yoper) and have had little to no luck getting things going. Anyone know of a better alternative, or maybe a good tutorial somewhere?

Wht kind of Develpment? Webdesign, etc... ? if so you could use Win2k, or even Win98se. Win98se has a personal webserver that works ok. My last company used to use it for developing small web projects as alot of the smaller companies we delt with couldn't afford win2k.
