Well I went away from my pc to watch a movie. I come back to find a blue screen saying windows closed to prevent hardware damage. So I figure no biggy, I restart my pc and geuss what C:programs/windows/system is missing or curropt. What a joy, so I do what any windows user would do, I did a repair install. gheuss what though. Now NTFS is missing, so I try again, now some driver is missing, Itry again, now the screen wont load. I thought this may be something physical like my ram but linux works fine. So now I had to install windows on a new partition copy over like 20 gigs of files which toke forever, then reinstall windows on old partition, copy files back. Then update everything. I am on 56k so updateing this much to me is a NIGHTMARE. Man can I just say i am mad. :bang head :bang head (right now I am on new partition waiting for another 10 gigs to copy over.)

System is a WD 160 8 mb cache 7200 rpms. My temps never go about 43c, I am running xp home.

I tried chkdsk, and copying files over was fine. I was worried HDD went out on my but so far no signs of it.(though I am not sure)

Ok, well I have manufacter cd for my hdd but its pretty new less then 6 months. So far no sings of it breaking. SO I geuss I wll just dive in head first and see what happens with a fresh install. wish me luck(its going to be a long night, even longer day since I have to leave at 8 am and wont be back will 5.)

Well so far it is running fine, my fears of something like a fan stoped and my PC was overheating or HDD gave out dont seem to be true so far.

sounds like your hard drive is going bad...this happened to me when I had my HDD partitioned...it would run scandisk on every boot, but when I reformatted to single partition...no probs again.

Scandisk on everyboot can just be a option messed up in registry. Thathas happened to me before. Any way it has always been one partition, and still is.

If you were new to the forums, I would understand... But being here as long as you have, the lack of being able to create a good thread title is a poor reflection of how much you've learned. I think this is a symptom of lack of effort or thought, moreso than anything else. This isn't a gamer forum, it isn't for the 1337, its an overclocking and technical help forum - as such, there is some effort and "coherent-ness" expected when you post.

Calm down

Who isn't calm?

Techni did a great job on the title, as I was confident he could do after being a dedicated member of the forums for as long as he has. Everyone here appreciates that kind of effort, especially when we see the capability is there.

Ok, umm the title didnt seem to change. Any way IMOG if you want just lock this thread, since its over.

No reason to lock it - it shows different in your first post title, just not the thread title - only moderators can change thread titles and lock threads (green stars).
