I searched the board for 9600p o/cing but the posts are quite old (as is my card, but it's a value card with great performance! I am glad I bought the 128mb as the 256mb has slower memory and is of no use.

I successfully used ATI Tool to memory overclock the GPU to 397.80 core (default)/345.60 memory - FPS was 120 in ATI tool
3DMark01 was 13,172.

I could only overclock the core to 426.6/297 (default) core/memory. FPS was 110 before getting artifacts.

Can I just use the memory overclock (397.8/345.6) and leave the core alone?

Yes you can just OC the memory, that's OK. But I would OC the card manually till it starts showing artifacts in 3d applications. Download 3dmark '03, run it and tell us the scores with and w/out OC. 3dmark '01 is more like a CPU benchmark.
