I'm going to be assembling my water system over the next few days, but I wanted to know what water temps I should expect in the resevoir. Post your CPU temps, too(doesn't have to be screenshots)

On a regular, no-ice basis, my water is at 22 degrees C. Add salt and ice and i see -2 C. But not for long:):).

Remember man I have no radiator- just a big 5 gallon bucket. So this may not be useful info to you-

ah, salt, that would be a great idea, but...wouldn't it mean major piping problems? I guess it might kill algae, too...so why don't people use salt water???

As to the salt water issue - one work, corrosion. Don't add SALT! It is an excellent electrolyte.

My reservoir temps run 2.4-3.2 C over ambient air temp. My pump is submerged and the pump order is pump-raidator-CPU-reservoir. CPU temps (1.2@1.4 GHz AMD) run 6-8 C over ambient and is rock stable.

yeah, salt=very very bad. Especially if any of your components are iron or steel. Near-instant rust- ever lived near the ocean? See how rusted out all the cars are?:) Not to mention adding salt to regular H20 increases the conductivity like 100 fold.

Mainly I dump in a few tablespoons of salt when I add a bunch of ice, when I feel like really pushing my system. Adding salt lets the water temperature drop below freezing, that's all it's good for. Adding almost anything will lower the freezing point, like antifreeze.

As soon as I'm done tho I dump all that saltwater and flush the system with alchohol and water for a while.

I don't have a reservoir because my pump is inline, but my processor temps never go over 100F. This is with a homemade three pass waterblock, and a heater core with no fan on it.
