It is hardware and it is called a Playstation 2.
If you are asking about software for playing PS2 games on a PC...... Read the Forum Rules and delete your first post please.
**Edit** As pointed out below I was mistaken. Emulators are OK as long as you bought the game. Please disregard this post............

is this breaking the rules as he is only asking for software i.e emulator but not the actull game software
Mod!
I don't think this breaks the rules if the games are owned.
There is software available to allow you to play PS2 games on a PC - you are looking for a PS2 emulator.
As long as you own the games I see no problem here.
If emulators are illegal then I guess I better stop using Cedega on Linux to play windows games, as it is essentially an emulator (I legally purchased the games btw).
Hopes this clears any confusion.

Emulators
Man don't know how many hours I spent trying to find some of these to play PS2 games on my PC but to no advail. They just don't exist. Everywhere I look I come up with the same thing.
If you do happen to run accross one that works share the wealth. I want to play GT4 but I don't have a PS2 anymore.
All I got to say is be warned when getting the emulator. Since most are just knock off junk in a zip they are loaded with viruses and other crap. Not to mention all the porn site popups you'll probably hit just tryin to find one to download.

I stand corrected.
My theory was that PS2 games are encrypted and only a PS2 should be able to decode them. Thus you would need an illegal program to use them on a PC because of the encryption.

I'm not aware of any such encryption although I may be wrong.
I suppose its a bit like the argument over if its legal to circumvent CSS to play DVDs on Linux - DVDs you bought.
<3 DMCA

Ya I don't think they are encrpted at all. Only exception would be the files it needs when it starts a game on system which is already on the game DVD anyways. I know I can copy a PS2 game to my harddrive with ease, but trying to find something thats succesful at runnning it, well thats another story.

I've seen emulators, but none that work with all software. People are afraid to make them after the Bleem! incident. :(

Yep. Sony didn't like people playing PS games on their computers and DreamCasts, especially looking better than the PS hardware.
