OK, here's the problem.

Got an Alpha pep66 with the delta fan on it, ASII heatsink compound. Case is open right now, top, sides, etc...
I first thought it was because I had mounted it improperly (not seated right on), so I remounted it. Same result. Tried again (could have missed again). Same thing. Tried reversing the fan so that it blows onto the heatsink, no dice. The temp shown is the highest I could catch it at in 3 tries. It fluctuates between around 43°C and 68°C, and has been as high as 76°C. This is with seti running in the background. At idle, it sits quite nicely at 37°C no fluctuation at all. Any ideas as to why the temps are so high under load?

u hook it up to one of the new 240CFM fans? they've been known to rip out the screws and fly off the heatsink ;)

nah...but my senses are leading me to think theres prolly something running amuk with your mobo temp reader....+/- 25C seems a little fishy...

have u tried running like folding@home/seti for an hour and seeing if it levels off somewhere?

you could try going into the MBM settings and changing the data intervals to 5 seconds....and that may stabilize the fluctuations a bit as well....assuming your temp taker isn't way off kilter

get a probe first, can't always rely on those mobo probes

you hit ctrl-print screen. that will take a picture of your desktop, then u just paste in paint and edit it to only show the MBM , then convert to jpeg. 600x60 or less and post it here
