how is the res on that 6000 dollar monitor? I think its max is only like 853x500 or something like that. does it look sweet in games or what. do they make smaller Plamsa TVs with smaller screens and higher res cuz for 6000 I want at least 30inch and 1280x1024 for gaming. that setup is sweet as heck anyhow but I don't know about the res of the 42incher.

The Plasma supports a MAX resoulution of 1280x1024 80hz.

I use 1024x768 when playing games on it.

That's interpolated resolution. The physical resolution is less than 800x600. But if it looks good, who cares?

I'm seriously thinking about getting the same monitor. How does it look for regular broadcast TV? What's your signal source, e.g., antenna, satellite, cable? I've seen it playing DVDs and HDTV and it looks phenomenal.

okay cool I gotta see one before I buy one but they do sound great! 6000 dollars is like 7 1.2MP/Epox 87ka systems but I bet it is worth it.

Flash ...yes the "PHYSICAL" resolution is 842x480. But Plasma,s are VERY efficient displays , the image from the PC is VERY VERY good!
I also use a SONY G520 21" Trintron Display @ 1600x1200, but believe it or not, prefer the Plasma.

I use a Denon DVD 5000 dvd player , Pioneer LD and satellite broadcasts on the Plasma . All inputs are run through a "Focus Enhancements Quadscan Elite" video scaler.

Satellite and free to air TV look very good ( only slight traces of "False Contouring"), DVD,s through the Quadscan are outstanding!

HMMM!! This seems to be turning into a "Home Theatre" thread. :D :D

Uh, it has gotten a little home theaterish, sorry. But ... do you find that the Quad Scan makes a big difference? I hadn't considered adding another $2-3k component. I thought the NEC had a built-in line doubler that was supposed to do a very good job. Thanks.

BTW, great OVERCLOCKED system; very COOL. (Just to stay on topic :)).

Hi Flash......The NEC does have in built scaling which does a VERY good job , especially with NTSC/PAL broadcasts BUT !!!......as with all things the inbuilt doublers of most of the Plasma,s on the market cant compete with "standalone" units.

Before the Quadscan i tried the DVDO i-Scan , this unit ( for me ) was very dissapointing. The Quadscan made "BIG" improvements all round getting rid of nearly all motion artifacts and video noise ...and most importantly NEARLY eliminating all "false Contouring"........A plasma,s WEAK piont!

I am afraid its back to the old saying" You get what you pay for"
