Hi, I'm just wandering if anyone has ever thought, or done this, building there PC inside a Medium size fridge with no Freezer. It seems logical enough, I mean, you just modify the fridge, and whola, you have a super cooler, better then any water pump, and better then any fan. Anyway, what are everyones thoughts on this? Just curious to see what people would say to this. :)

It's already been done.
Maximum PC had an article on it a few months ago.
It wasn't a success, too many problems.

Can't see a fridge coping in keeping down the temps much after a few hours of activity. Just think how warm the thing gets after putting in a load of shopping. And then add 30 degrees C to the shopping.

Yeah I think the guy is right! A fridge has already a hard time when you open it. It would have to work non stop to deal with the heat amounts a modern pc produces. And a Fridge is not designed to work nonstop...So it won´t survive very long:D
But if you have an old one around, give it a try.

Right, you want an outlandish suggestion? Here's two.

First, try stripping the piping and pump, keeping all the juice in of course, and modding it into your case. Coolness.

Second, try using the pump and the piping and mod it into a water cooling setup, and use the CFC stuff instead of water. Sucess?

I haven't seen many setups work properly with the PC inside the fridge.. I have seen a few like mine where the fridge unit directly cools the CPU.. If you're feeling brave, you can try that.

By the way, refrigeration compressors have no trouble running non-stop. Haven't you ever seen how long they run when you plug them in for the first time? I've got mine running an average of 5hrs/day+ straight and have had no problem yet.

Hmmm...Yeah, that makes since, they don't run all the time. But like ptcg says, a fridge wouldn't have any trouble at all running all the time. Besides, Fridges are designed like Household AC units, when the temp starts going up, they start up again, so because of the heat from the CPU, it probably would never turn off, or very little at least. I dunno, maybe a freezer instead? lol

Or, you could hook yourself up a water cooler and mod the fridge into a resevoir (or however u speell it). Coolness.

That dosn't sound like a bad idea, it might work. Who knows, the only way we will is if we try it.

designing one as we speak.

http://216.254.0.2/~language/interface/computer.html

am redoing the site and including all the details and gunk so feel free to check up on it within this week hopefully and it should be finalized. these are just a couple rough concept sketches. the entire design is done, i just have to put it into one readable package. threw this together to give people an idea of whats happening.

enjoy

PS if the page loads funny, hit reload and it should fix itself.

dunno why it's been doing that lately... must be buggy code on my part. will try to fix it.
