strange problem

ok a while before i asked about setting my router to route ftp traffic to my computer

and for this i need an static ip address to put in netowkr and the dmz part of my router

the problem is that when i set the ip address my computer wouldnt connect to the internet sometimes and i will have to cut off the connection inside win2k(right click, stop/disconnect) and then connect again and it will work

even if it works the connection will be like going up and down
i will have to refresh a page a few times before it actually starts to load

any ideas on how to fix this? this is fine with my other computer on the network even if i didnt put the other computer's static ip address in the network section of my router's setup

any help on this i really appreciate it, thx
