You tell'em Psy! Maybe we should take up a collection and donate a large supply on No-Doze and Mountain Dew to Berkeley! I don't see any reason why they can't stay up all night!

Lol nice avatar change Psy :)
Im about to switch as well. This is bs.
Hmm we can only hope they will be online from tomorrow, it really wouldnt be nice racing with deadlines for a ton of finished WUs again :(
Until then I am crunching Einstein

People, I'm sure the people are Berkely want to fix this problem just as much as you want them to. They only have so much of a budget to go around, and they have to depend on Berkeley to get this power thing fixed.
I see so many people complain about how they want to crunch SETI(and only SETI), and refuse to run a backup project for times like this. Then they go and quit SETI and Fold(not that theres anything wrong with Folding).

Its just time to move on. A power problem is BS. Im a journeyman elect. If I couldnt find a major problem NOW and FIX IT,, I wouldnt have a job. I hope to keep a machine or two with the team. You folks are cherry!!! My 1st distro was seti and i hope to keep a machine or so here. But Berk. really needs to grow up. I feel like a turn coat... i have 100 plus units waiting for upload.... Its worse than the old days. Maybe boinc and fold will share a client... but the move has been made... The three home machines are folding... two at work are,, im sure crunching cache...

The thing with the power issue is that its not up to the people that run the SETI program when it gets checked out.
They put in a request with Berkeley to get there electrical problem checked out, Berkeley gets it, looks at what needs to be done on campus. Days later they come back with a response of, "In a couple days we'll send someone out, sit tight". It sucks being dependant on other people, but SETI just doesn't have the budget to be self sufficient.
Good luck with Folding, glad to see you not going to be sitting idle.

Im with you on that SunRedRxy . For now im Crunching the hell out of Einstein as a cross-project and will soon be in top ten on this team . Thats a challenge for me. Butt I do wish Berkeley could get their Power OUtage problem taken care of with the Seti II project ; thats what i do ;and love to Crunch :D So Crunch on Team :attn:
Indeed - and a cobblestone for OC team is a good thing whether its for seti or einstein or folding or whatever. As sunred has been preaching for weeks (probably longer hehe) it is just a good idea to have a backup project attached to all your clients. If something does wrong its sooo simple to adjust your resource split from the site and have that all propogate to your clients and not have to sit with idle clocks spinning :)

The graceful shutdown procedure is finally falling into place. The project is up but data service is off while we generate some more work. Data service will be on shortly. We will have a short outage or two today for testing graceful shutdown.
I was able to connect and pick up a few units this afternoon. Fingers are crossed that the farm picked up enough work to keep it busy for a while.
