i just tried putting in my new rage ATi Fury 32mb agp with tv out video card in and my computer just beeped at me.. what the heck is wrong? i made sure i shoved that puppy in there nothing is wrong with the video card so i don't know whats going on.. currently i have a savage s3 32mb in and that works fine even when overclocking it.. i also reset everything in my bios so nothing would be overclocked but still the video card just beeped at me
If you put a different card in and it works then try the Fury in another pc if you can it might be bad.

ill see about trying it in my neighbors computer when he gets home.. but what if it works in his computer then?
If the card works ok in another machine, then it could be a driver conflict. I don't have any experience with those cards, but with other vid cards, you usually have to change the graphics drivers to a generic VGA driver set, then reboot before removing the old card. After the new card is physically installed, then you install the new drivers, then reboot again. Hope that helps.

i just tried starting my computer with my working video card without the monitor plugged in and its the same beep i get from the other video card... ive tried every combination in my bios im getting tired of swapping my video cards back and forth
If your pc will not work with either card then check what the "beeps" mean.
Here is a place that should help you determine the beep code.

okay i turned it off and listened again 1 long beep 2 or 3 short ones which means according to the web site placid game me
1 long, 3 short Conventional/Extended memory failure
1 long, 2 short Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information
Any other beep(s) RAM problem.
If any other correctable hardware issues the BIOS will display a message.
so what does that mean theres something wrong with my ram?

make sure your ram is seated (take it out and put it back in again) if that doesnt help then your mobo is probably bad.
Disregard what batboy said about drivers thats a totaly wrong diagnosis drivers arnt loaded untill windows starts.
Error beeps usualy mean one of 3 things bad mobo bad ram bad video. Most of the time its the video card or the ram because if its the mobo most of the time you dont get the beeps. If you have a pci video card laying arround try that. It could be the agp slot. Make absolutly sure that the video card is in ALL the way. some times a mismounted mobo will keep your vid card from going in. Since agp pins are stacked you have to make sure the card is setting perfectly in the slot.
