I currently have the Radeon LE in my system and was wondering which is a better cooler for it.....the Blue Ord or a GlobalWin FA420 fan/hs combo? I have the old cpu fan off of my Cyrix 333 on there at the moment. Thanx:)

The Radeon has a fairly cool running chipset and the Blue Orb is all you need. If you get one get some silicone carbide sandpaper and lap the Blue orbs base as they are notorious for not having a flat base. The sandpaper can be purchased at any Hardware store, WalMart or any Auto parts store....The grit needed will be 600, 800 and 1000-1500 if available(a multi pack at WalMart is like $1.99)

Arctic Silver Epoxy is an option.

Riverdog,

The Blue Orbs make good Radeon chipset coolers as well as Mobo chipset coolers, personally I use Slot Cpus and the Blue orbs are 15 mill in height and I dont have adequate clearance, but your board it will definitly fit

To attach the Radeon if it doesnt have pushpin holes:

Use Arctic silver adhesive in this ratio so you can remove it if you ever decide to move these HSF's to your next upgrade,

I have found that arctic silver adhesive works best with this ratio

Mix the Arctic silver in this blend

1part A adhesive
1part B adhesive
1part regular arctic silver II
Arctic silver's website recommends a formula of 50% part A and 50% part B if its permenent

Or they also recommend
50%part A and B thermal adhesive and 50% Arctic Silver II

I find my ratio of 1part A adhesive
1part B adhesive
1part regular arctic silver II

works best as and is stronger and will hold the weight easily( I have a very Heavy Heatsink on my Video Card, the Alpha pal 15u:

There is also another trick

Mix up this formula :

1part A adhesive
1part B adhesive
1part regular arctic silver II

And apply it only to the corners of the gpu approximatly one sqr centimeter on each side in the corners. and use regular Arctic silver on the rest of the GPU.

THis works well and is my current method that I used when I affixed my Alpha15u

And you can get Arctic Silver adhesive here for $9.99 shipped

If you havent alread bought your orbs you should check www.allelectronics.com They have lots of good deals on fans, and they have a small black heatink that i think would be perfect for chipset and GPU, better than a blorb, and its only $4.50.
