How reliable is OCZ memory compared to Cruical or Corsair XMS for example?

Enthusiast memory companies like OCZ and Mushkin are the best ones on the market. They make chumps like Corsair and Kingston look like amatures. They are run by the most professional and helpful people you will be able to find.

As an example of their support: I bought a DDR Booster in the Classifieds here. Something happened along the way and the Booster died (the relay chip, specifically). I called up OCZ tech support hoping to at least find out what was broken (I didn't know at the time). Sean (a member of these forums and an employee at OCZ) got me hooked up with an RMA with no problem. As soon as I gave him the tracking number for my dead Booster to be returned, a new one was on its way to my home.

How's that for customer service? Awesome guys, and I'll always keep them in mind when I need to buy high-performance RAM.

True, but Mushkin offers support only for the original purchaser and that can be bad sometimes.

Oh? You'd be surpised. I bought some stuff second hand and they had no qualms about an RMA/Support.

Actually, I am :) I tried to do that once and it didn't work for me  - this is how I actually found about this thing...

Long story short: the memory was bought on this forum, for some reason it gave me errors in memtest, I tried to RMA to Mushkin, didn't work. The guy I bought the memory from sent it back to Newegg and received a brand new kit which was good.

Anyway this was like a year ago, so things might have changed since then...

I agree.. OCZ Customer support quality big PLUS!. I had a problem with my DDR Booster, turned out it was my power supply was not able to run the LED's on it. I called up tech support, and the gentlemen was super friendly, and he even gave me some advice with timings on my OCZ EL Plat 3200.

The prices seem to be pretty normal to a little bit expensive.

Our memory isn't going to be as cheap as others usually, but you will know where the extra money went once you get your memory. Our product quality, tech support and overall presence in the enthusiast market is what I feel sets us apart from the other guys.

They've come a long way from Public Enemy number 1 to the most trusted name in Enthusiast parts.
How a lot can change in 6 years time. I'm sure some can remember the beginning when they were just shaving a layer off TCB3 and it didn't always work out so well and that scandel of fake OCZs ram on the market.

None the less the service is great with these guys now.

Most memorry companies don't make the memory chips or even put them on the PCB. As far as reliability of the memory, you aren't getting anything different from OCZ than you would with corsair, mushkin or kingston.

You pay for customer service, packaging, their heat spreader and return policy...

actually OCZ takes pride in what chips they put on their PCB if you get a 1GB kit and one stick OCs good and the other doesnt they will replace the set and hand test the modules for compatiblity :santa:. i have a frined on the inside
