Recent discussions between Arkaine and myself got me to pondering the true nature of scalability of processors. So I checked several of the XP/ XP-M boxes I have folding. All use the same NF-7 S motherboard and with two exceptions use the same ram. The trendline gets skewed a bit by the one box running @ 166 x 11 which should be farther below the line.

Here's what I found:
AMD XP Scalability (http://www.tysa.com/15jg52_uploads/amd_xp_scalability.htm)
Almost perfect scalability.

I like the PPD jump from 2.0ghz to 2.4ghz. Gogo overclocked XP-M's! :)

I must be doing something wrong then because my 2400 Mobile at 2.4 and 2.5 ghz was doing the same times per frame on the workunit. I thought I would get an extra boost but nothing. I get 30-32 minutes a frame. On my dual mobiles at 2.2 Im getting 42 minutes a frame. Maybe the FSB has more to do with it?

How can i find out the PPD?

I would like to research this for my P4..i can clock it easily ranging from 1.4Ghz to 3.5

I use FAHLogStats (http://fahstats.sourceforge.net/) . To prepare the graph, I got the frame time from the log (FAHlog.txt) during a period I knew the computer was truly idle and did the calculation manually - Convert frame time to decimal minutes, multiply by # of frames. Divide product into 1440 and multiply by the value of the work unit.

I'll upload a new version of the file that shows the FSB and multipliers used at each data point and the ppd/GHz calc when I get to the office. Click on the sheet one tab on the bottom of the page to see it. Should be up by 10 am EST.

The rigs @ 2, 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6 are all running @ 200 FSB. The one @ 2.532 is running @ 211 x 12 and it gets a little boost from the higher FSB (and/or from the lower latency ram in that rig). All of the rigs I used have PC3200 except the one running @ 166 x 11.

Ill get working on it today and tomorrow. Will post results ASAP.

Weird..FAHstats doesn't recognize my client (i am running version core version 79 of the single installer)

You have to point it to the client executable - FAH502-Console

Aw k got it to work now. I'll play with it a bit.

AXP-M + NF7-S @220x12.5 (2750MHz) = 315PPD on most 600 pointers.

Added it to the list. It would be nice if you could give me the idle machine frame time on a p1140.

And what all did it take to get to 2.75GHz? Most of mine have something left but i've been content where they are, considering they're office computers and need to work all the time.

waterchiller + 1.9Vcore

Hopefully it will have a p1140 when I get home to check out the idle time. It's right around 27min per frame if memory serves correctly.

How do you get that much PPD with each processor? I have several comps and only get 191ppd. A 1.47Ghz athlon xp and 2.4Ghz winchester sempron are on all day.

Folding big WUs.

folding a p1141 currently the frame times are 27:46 at 2750MHz

Thanks, I'll post exact results tomorrow. I don't think there is an appreciable difference in frame time of p1140 and p1141.

If you've been assigned a QMD WU, it won't track them. The QMD WUs (p19xx)are a bit weird and currently aren't tracked by FAHLogStats. Otherwise, you open the program, click settings, add, name the client, select local or windows share, click on the ... button and browse to the FAH directory and select the client executable (FAH502-Console for the text console or WinFAH for the graphical client) then click ok.
