depends on what o/s you are running. for whatever burning software you choose(nero, ezcd) for windows,( xdcroast, gnome toaser for linux)) look around to where it would say "create cd from image"
and thats basically it. browse for the .iso file and burn away!

What is the formatted capacity of your the cd you are trying to write it to? I seem to remember my son running into a very similar thing with 650 meg cds.. Dunno for sure, just a thought.

You can't format a cdr and then write to it...because you can only write to it once. That's what your permission problems are.

You have to do a direct burn. So you would go into your burning program and open project or maybe burn file from disc and open up the iso...basically, the iso is all of the information on the disc put into a file, which you then want to burn straight to another disc. I forget exactly how to do it, as it's been a while since I've had to. Several programs out there do it. :)

if the image you want to burn is xxx.iso and the speed of the drive is y, and the device (SCSI) is device z,z,z then type at the bash commandline:

cdrecord -v dev=z,z,z speed=y xxx.iso

I hate to break the news to you, but zipslack isn't an iso image... <ouch?> But, that's ok. If you can get it all on one cd, you may get lucky and be able to use it to install with. And hey, even if you can't use it to install, look at all the other uses for it!!

I read that you were trying out linux for the first time; I'm trying to do it as well.

My only problem - I don't have a burner on my pc, only on my mac. I can d/l an iso, no problem, but I don't have experience burning them to cds. Does anyone have any advice? I'm pretty eager to start learning more about linux,

and besides, I need something to keep me away from my history paper due Monday. :-)

So, to repeat Walrok's question, how'd you make out with Linux? I know you got it installed, but have you been playing with it?

Hack.

Uhm, you mean my question for warlok? He'd have to answer that.

But if you were asking about me - I didn't get it installed yet. I had to get toast (cd burning prog) for my mac, which took a little while, and I'm burning as I write this.

I still need to download the second cd, I believe.

I'm also trying to figure out how to partition my pc drive, since I haven't done it before and I'd really like to not totally screw up the hd. Any advice?

I like Partition Magic...though I'm not positive that they have a version for Macs (pretty sure they do, though). :)
