I have an Asus P3V4X, a Via Apollo Pro133A chipset mobo
rite now, i have a 667 Mhz P3, and it's ****ing me off cuz i can't overclock it enough to matter
(my fsb is already 133, and my mobo's max is 150, translating to a 750Mhz max)
i've been reading around the forums for a while, and i got the idea of upgrading to a celeron (prolly 900,950,or 1G)
those chips are designed for a 100fsb, but can i put one in my 133 fsb, tune it down to 100, and start overclocking from there?

sorry if this is a really simple question.. i just wanna make sure before i buy anything

That upgrade should be free for you. Sell your P3 for ~$70 easy and pick up a celeron for $50-70

I don't know if this is normal for celeron 850's. The one I have is a cDo core, which is the newer core.. It is a retail chip, so it just has the intel cooling on it. I want to try it in a better motherboard to see what it can do...
