I've just reinstalled my computer in another case. When i tried to boot up, it sounded like everything was fine, but the screen didn't come on. I tested all of the cables i even tried a different monitor, but nothing seemed to help. So i tried a different video card, but that didn't work either. So i put that video card back into my other computer and then that computer's video didn't work. Please try and tell me what might have went wrong. I'm really in a bind here. Thank you.

1st make sure no stry standoffs are under the motherboard.

Then look at the mounting screws and make sure none of them are close to the traces on the motherboard.

If you killed the video card its probably due to static electricity.

Thanks for your help, but i think the mobo fried my graphics cards, i just took a closer inspection and two of the grafted lines on the mobo have been struck by something so i believe its now crap, well i probably wont be posting on here for a while cause i wont have any computer to use so happy overclocking to you all.

try it again,
I did the same thing when I built my system.
I forgot to use the spacers under my board. Everyone I had look at it said it was fried but I put the spacers under it and its been runnin ever since.......I know things like this can be very frustrating.
patience will help alot........and if you did fry it:( then look at the bright side......you get to upgrade:)

ok, the system will power on, all of the fans will turn on and so will the drives, but the video wont. Could it possibly be the cpu, there is a chance i may have chipped the core when replacing the cpu fan, does this sound like it may be the problem?

Do you have access to anothe vid card. Even an old pci card will at least tell you something. I beleive that if the CPU was bad you would get an error beep code and then nothing....

I tried an old video card, but I still get nothing, if the cpu was bad would the video card even show anything? And also if the cpu was bad would the computer fans turn on as well as the drives?

I know there would be NO video if the cpu was bad. It won't even post. I'm not sure about the fans.

I've had this problem exactly twice, and there is only one reason for it - your CPU is dead. Sorry! Hope you either have a wonderful retailer who will replace or you're going to be spending some cash on a new one. Don't bother rechecking the motherboard, video, connections, etc. I tried all of that at least 20 times when it happened to me, just put in my friends processor and Disco! Everything works.

Thanks guys for all your help, I'm off to go order myself another processor. I kind of figured that was the case, but i didn't want to admit it to myself, one last question, because the computer in its current condition it has killed my graphics card which i checked in another computer, could a cpu malfunctioning cause this?? I just want to know whether my motherboard is bad now too.... Well thanks again, hopefully be posting good news within a few days.
