iam running my LGA775 550 @ 4GHz 100% stable @ default voltage on bios.. (bios reads it 1.385 iam not sure cba to reboot now lol) anyways the readings are different.. since CPU-Z posts 1.44v as a final reading for voltage..

ive seen similar cases with some other ppl.. what do u think of this and which is right cpu-z or bios

Well, Prescotts use a dynamic vcore which means it changes depending on load.

I've got the same issue too. 1.3875 in bios, CPU-Z reads it at 1.525-1.544 roughly. This is at idle or load. Very strange

is this for only 775? or do 478 pressies do the same?

Both the BIOS and CPUz, or any other software, will read the "voltages" from the same monitoring chip.
I say "voltages" because these are very often not trustworthy at all. In my experience they fluctuate more according the software than they do when measured with a multimeter, and the multimeter shows the actual/correct value (as long as the mm isn't faulty)

There is also a drop in voltages on most motherboards during load, simply because Intel has guidelines for that in their motherboard design specifications.
