OK, I was told a long time ago that the more you use your swapfile the slower your system will go. I have 384mb of Micron DDR 2100 ram. I was playing Quake 3 and had outlook express and Internet Explorer , and system monitor up. I noticed that I was 3 mb into my swapfile. I have only two slots. Should I take out the 128mb stick and pop another 256mb stick in? I figured I would be able to go a while on this system before programs got large enough for me to get into my swapfile.

For windows ME one of the best programs that would help you a lot is Cacheman. To get that you can find it from this website: Cacheman (http://www.outertech.com/)

Well not terribly sure if this works on Windows ME or not. You can try going into sysedit and into your system.ini file and scroll down to 386enh. Type ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1 and then save. That tells Windows to only go to the swapfile after you have used up all your memory. Works pretty well on some systems. But like I said I'm not sure if it works for ME or not. Can try searching for that command on google or something.
