Hi,

I just installed my new P4 1.7 Ghz in an Abit TH7-2 and I wonder if I could tweak some settings more. I have it stable at 1.87 Ghz at 1.8 V but I was hoping for 2 Ghz. What do the "differential current" and "Dram bus frequency" mean in the BIOS Softmenu?. The first is set to 6x, and the second to Auto. Can I tweak them so that my processor overclocks better? Thanks.

Also, I can't install the onboard sound driver because the setup program quits with the message "valcx95.inf not found". I have Win98, the original edition, not SE. I'd appreciate any help.

The "Dram bus frequency" is probably the memory bus divider. If you're using RDRAM PC800, then you you can probably leave the setting on auto. I don't know what the other setting is. But, as with overclocking any computer system, first you need to increase the cooling. Once temps are good, then you need to increase the voltage a little if you're have stability problems. If you're using the Intel retail heatsink and fan with heat tape, then you need to clean up the sink and use thermal paste or get a better CPU cooler. Once you have done that, maybe try increasing the CPU core voltage to 1.9 but not until you have the cooling issues taken care of first.
