Hello People,

Got a Sony PSP today with ridge racer.

Damn, this thing looks awesome! Oh and its go no dead pixels or anything, I love this machine.

Just waiting for my screen protector and thats it. Been watching Starwars e3 trailer on it(new trailer out) and it looks amazing. Playing RR gave me a solid 4+ hours on a single charge. Also setup the wifi on it (need to use open share for wifi).
Connecting through usb was no probs.

I have had no problems with this one, tried all the things mentioned on other websites....nothing wrong here.

Well be getting a DS next week...best of both worlds...

Finally...the screen...it really does take ur breath away...damn...they did good this time. With new firmware for additional features...its game over. Played with the DS and honestly...I cant decide between them. Yes, PSP looks better but seeing Mario makes me go all weak at the knees.

If I had to buy one? er...dont know as I will be getting them both. 1GB mem card on the way...

Curious as to how you actually got one already. They aren't for sale officially until the 24th

its cool they dont use regional codes, so you can import all you want. Only thing is US addition comes with battery pack, charger, earphones, case, spiderman 2. Though it also 250 not 180.

You can import them from many places like ebay or lik-sang or playasia, etc. Launch date is later this month so unless you got some mad hookups, imports are the only way to get them.

Not only that but you can set a Japanese one to English with a few button clicks so in essence, the Japanese and American models are the exact same althought I heard a rumor that movies on the PSP may be region locked.

psp is a jap version, which has the same region code as the UK. So umd movies will not be a problem. Games will not be region coded.

As I speak, read and write japanese, I did not have any problems. Oh, but what is even better is that u can set the lang on the psp to english.

Played with the ds 2day. I think its awesome, its going to be even better when they release the re-designed verison with bigger screen and more slim-lined design.

Personally...mario ds just does it for me but then again, I am easily satisfied when it comes to games...mario and spiderman are great. RR on psp takes ur breath away and when GT comes out its gonna be even better.

While everyone is going after the psp which I did as well...really prefer the ds. :sn:

Is it possible to put your own movies on disk of sorts and then play them on the psp? Also can it brows the interweb through the wifi conection?

You can put movies/music on the flashcards. They have them upto 1 gig with 2gig just around the corner. Just use Rapidz encode or 3GP video converter encode video into .MP4 along with letting you tinker with resolution, video quality, sound quality, fps, max volume etc.

As for browsing the so called "interweb" :p out of the box you cannot. But there was a leaked firmware that supposedly enables e-mail/browsing and a few other things. Sony has mentioned that those fuctions are in their future plans (among other things) but so far no dates.

The new starwars trailer came up to 25mb and converting a dvdrip 2 cd copy of starwars e2 came up to 468mb per disk. 936mb for a good quality film on psp. Also a smallville episode came upto 265mb.
I used 3gp to convert the files. The starwars trailer was done in seconds while the other two files took er, actually I just lined them up. Anyway, I am waiting for the upgrade firmware which I think will be released in around a months time. I would not try to use the pirated one available as it DOES screw ur psp up totally.

As for pics...surf the web and have a look, its not that hard.

I think a 1GB card would more than enough to get a full 2 hours film on. If you wanted to add mp3s and the like then u would need more space. 2gb cards are going to be expensive...
