I installed WinXP and after that, everything was slower than ever. It seems that my Sandra Multimedia scores has also dropped. Why is this happening ?. Anyone else experiencing the same problem ?. Btw, anyone knows are there any sites that gives out tips and tricks on Windows XP Final ?.

What os did you change from?
Did you upgrade or fresh install.

Here are a couple sites.

http://www.tweakxp.com/

http://www.neowin.net/

Best info on the second site is in the forums section.

Not sure but here is my idea, min. requirement of ram on XP is 192Mb right so maybe 256Mb is not cutting it anymore but that's just an idea

Its winXPs fault. Its slower, more unstable than win2k....... So why the heck is ppl using it?? Change back to win2k and ur system will be both faster and more stable.

your system is pretty close to mine in specs , you can lighten up XP and get better scores , but no matter what I do win me whips the crap outta XP performance wise , I mean 1 example , I got 36 sec on mathmark in win me and 49 in XP!!! That is just one of the many examples.

Thanks for the info guys !. Well, I think I'll need some tweaking and try to remove some of those things loaded into memory when WinXP starts. When I was using Win2K, I had 161mb memory free but when I was in WinXP, it has got only 91mb left. I get to know this by clicking on the task manager and it looks like its taking up just too much of RAM and 256mb isnt really sufficient enough. Btw, WinXP could overclock a little better ? :)
