Well I was just messing around with a 100% stable rig to see what I could break. I tested all this RAM and I knew it was all good for 280. So I pondered why it would not run 1mhz over 200fsb on the NCCH-DL. So I poke through the BIOS, read the manual for the 100th time, and come across something that I have no idea what it is.
Speed Spectrum. Its set to +/-.5% I scratch my head. Look in the manual, says nothing important, scratch my head somemore, and skip google. I turn it off. Set the FSB to 213 multi to 15, cross fingers, and boot. Well low and behold I pick up 200mb/s in Sandra. This is with 4x512mb.
I now wonder what this stuff can really do. Maybe I can run 230x14. Ill try that out later. Testing this for stability now.
Ah, its a good day.

That's awesome. I'll have to remember that.
What IS spread spectrum anyways?

Like I said, Im still scratching my head on that one.
Id get a PC-DL unless you need the PCI-X slots.

Had spread spectrum on another board I had. I think is bumps all clocks up by set %. I'd set it to 0% and get exactly fsb x multi but enabled you get a few extra mhz, at least that's what it did on the older board.
Hmmmmmm Well youy sure seam to come up with some crap Mr Fishy,,I disabled mine and set it to 220x14 and it runs perfect and the sandra Memory scores went up 350 points...lmao..
Well I am at 15x215 currrently and it appears happy..DATH at that setting lol.
But 16x205 benches well runs stable need to prime it ,,It would ocasionaly run at this setting for bench tests but appears to run solid with the speed spectrum disabled ..

Which supplier did you go to to obtain your zeon 1.6's and do they run at 800fbs. I'm currently looking into the NCCH-DL for a new workstation project. I would like to get ahold of an Iwill DH800; however, they are nowhere to be found in US.
Also, would it be better to purchase Xeon Nocona's for the NCCH-DL? I could overclock the 1.6's if that's the way to go and to save a few dollars.
Cheers

"Spread Spectrum can also cause problems with overclocked systems, especially those that have been taken to extremes. Even a slight modulation of frequency may cause the processor or any other overclocked components of the system to fail, leading to very predictable consequences."
Well I think that pretty much sums it up. Im still hunting for a PC-DL.

The DH800 can be purchased dirrectly from Iwill. Check 2cpu.com for some used ones as well. Its hard to beat a $50 CPU that does 3.2ghz. Sure a 3.6 Noconna is faster out of the box, and you may be able to hit 4ghz with it, but they are so expensive. I guess it comes down to how fast you want to go, and how much money you have burning a hole in your pocket.
PC-DL at Zipzoomfly for $190 w/ free 2nd day fedex.
Thats 6 bucks less than I paid a few weeks ago.
There are 2 on ebay atm. $130-160 range.

Thats still too much $ to gamble for a hunch.
I think I need to sell my MB first.

Checked with Iwill, they are currently out of stock. I've checked with some US retailers and they seem to be all out. I had one, LynnComp, email me with a reply indicating that the DH800 was discontinued. I'm in contact with an Iwill-Belgium rep, David, over at 2cpu.com. Hopefully, he will have some news regarding the production of DH800 mbs. The threads are posted by Gregg66. That's my user name overthere.
I'm also looking at eWiz for a potential purchase of an NCCH-DL. I would almost get the Xeon 1.6's @ ebay, but I don't know which seller to trust. Maybe someone here can point me towards a name of a reputable dealer.
Thanks

Lapcompue. I bought over 20 pairs from him. All perfect.
I just ran some benchmarks using PC Wizard, and no matter what I do, it tells me that PAT is not enabled... how can I enable it and will it run 200+ with it enabled?
Thanks if you can help.
Do not populate all 4 ram slots seams to be the concencious..
Spread Spectrum should always be turned off when overclocking.

Well, what chip can be had for $50? The 1.6's I haven' seen going for less than $180 a pair, so there not looking as good as some of the other LV chips in the low $200's.
Sigh.

I guess the price went up. I bought close to 20 pairs at $50 a CPU.

Thanks Diehrd... I got it... running 3.6 now with no problems... Muskin RAM is much better... OCZ wouldn't do 3.4... I'm gonna have to do some shopping... and selling...
So what's the best PC3200 RAM for these NCCH-DLs?

without a VDIMM mod, samsung TCCD chip RAM are the best...because they can be run at <2.8v with tight timings above 210mhz in dual channel...
i like the Patriot XBL series myself...
in the sticky at the top of the section there is a list of good TCCD ram

No, but if my new MB doesn't show up soon, than I might be selling mine.

Thanks Dusty... I've tried 1 gig kits of Corsair value RAM and Mushin and the big 2 gig OCZ... it makes a lot of difference... now, I can boot and run PC wizard or UT2K at 233... but it hiccups quite a bit... I think if I cooled the chipset it might stablize a bit... but I'm real happy that its running 3.6 smooth as silk... :D I was starting to think that this setup wasn't going to OC worth a darn, but my RAM was holding me back...
Thanks for all your help everyone.
