I started having this and other problems with my SETI@home since the 13 of this month. Since then I have done 10 complete recoverys and lost all my WUs, can somebody tell me what is going on. Ever since I got my last WU, things have been going screwy. I would like to start crunching again but I don't want the headaches anymore. I have to download SETI@home again, the last time I did it my computer puked bad.

When you say complete recovery do you mean that you formatted and reinstalled everything. Sounds like a problem I had a few months ago....a format fixed it for me

I had the same problem last Tuesday before I knew what Nimda was, In one of my W/U I found an .eml file and not knowing what it was I scanned it for a virus and found nothing so I opened it and found a file called readme.exe. Not knowing what it was I left it alone.:(
Then while watching Tech TV, later on that day I herd about Nimda, and that readme.exe file. But by then it was too late!
Almost every pc in the office had it, and all of the servers. The funny thing was (there is a file it loads in the windows system folder called LOAD.EXE) load.exe had the seti driver icon. Ooooops!!!

Yes, when I recoverd my system I basicly had to teach my computer how to walk again. It also infected my friends computers through my e-mail directory, they also had some of my SETI@home info. wierd. Can one of the top brass Overclockes give me the o.k. to download the SETI@home prog. again without having to worry about infections. It took alot to get my system to get back on track, lost alot of info. You see I don't trust my by back-ups because I failed to keep them updated. I tried every anti-virus to no avail, the only soulution was to erase my harddrive completely and start over again. What worries me is that what ever was in my SETI WUs is floating around the e-mail sector of the internet. What scarry is its ability to resist anti-virus programs, I use all and only the best. I hope this is not going to turn into an epedemic of epic proportions.

I seriously doubt that a Virus came from a WU. But other things that you have done could have ? Not really sure just wanted to share a thought.
