im sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is considered a good efficiency? mine hovers above a little above or below 7.0. also, for the compare thing in spy...what is the cpu/ram speed ratio. it is set at 5.0, what should mine be set at (check sig)? thanks....sorry for a buch of stupid questions...but i figure you guys are the ones to ask...
CPU effiency is a measure of how many CPU cycles it takes for SETI to do one FLOP (floating-point operation). The lower the number, the faster it crunches.
Example: 1000Mhz machine, 7cycles/flop. Effective speed of SETI client = 142.85Mhz (actually it should be MFlops... like Spy reports)
As for the cpu/ram ratio, it changes the chart displayed. When the ratio is high, CpF values generally increase. You should set the ratio to whatever the multiplier of your CPU is set to.

I haven't noticed much of a correlation between the efficiency and my crunching speed, actually. At least, not as Spy reports it.
Maybe it's just me.
If it's not just you, then it's just me..... The CpF values seem to have a descent impact on my WU times. I can leave my computer idle all day and get an average of 6CpF. Then when I get on, and play some MP3s while checking out the fourm, the CpF soars to 10. My times go from 15 hours/WU to about 20 or so. Mabey it's just cuz I have a slow machine  .

same here, whenever i leave my computer alone, it will drop to around 5 or 6 (even went as low as 3 before) then when i use it it jumps up to 7.5. i get faster wus when the number is lower.
