I hit 4200mhz on air just a few minutes ago.. I didn't have much chance to test for prime stability, but I got off a few benchmarks and 1 min prime stable for the screenshot :-).
The voltage used was 1.475 on a P4 650. The motherboard was a P5AD2-E with some corsair DDR-2 667. The temps maxed out at 62 C after a few minutes of prime.
No 3d benchmarks because the vid card is only a 6600 (plain).
I had to zip up the image because it was too large to insert, and I don't have anywhere on the web to put it right now.
I would do more tests, but this is not my machine (I'm building it for someone who will run it at stock). Not all that bad if you ask me.
You really should get us some benchmarks :) Try Sandra too, for CPU comparison material.

benchmarks are in the zip file attatched to the post.. If upload.mindless-innovation.com approves my membership, I can post it on here for everyone to see tonight...
For now you will have to open the zip to see my sandra mem score and super pi.
I can't get it downloaded..(firefox) :/

Well, I will ruin the suprise then
31 sec Superpi 1M
~6066 Sandra mem score.
I didn't bother to try and tweak the timings since I had a limited amount of time, and are installing apps in it as we speak. I will have it until tomorrow...
Sounds good. SPI is awesome.
Tweak it a little more and show some game benches. Your VGA ain't that bad, and will still make good comparings to other 6600's

Well the other problem is that I don't have a single game here.. I could probably do 3dm01...
Why didn't you just upload the pic? That'd be a lot easier than uploading it as a zip file IMO. Nice overclock BTW :D
Damn whats a "650"??? never did learn Intels new naming system....

wouldnt let me! It said the picture needs to be 640x640 or something silly like that. Rather than resize the image to something ridiculously small like that, I figured Id just zip it.

Its a 2MB cache 3.4 Ghz.
with 64 bit stuff + it runs cooler then the 5xx prescotts :D

Well I had to turn EIST off.. This was my major beef with this processor. Leaving EIST on made the computer rather laggy. I have built a lot of socket 478 P4's and many 2.8's. When my 650 drops down to 2.8 Ghz, it lags way more than it should...
Right now I have it at stock speeds, ready to go, but EIST will most likely STAY OFF.

I think I'm still going AMD, even though I don't have the core components yet.. I am waiting for the next core revision so that I can hopefully get my 3500/3800 without so many bugs

Woot, just got in my 640 tonight, right off the bat booted at 4.0 and installed Windows. I will push it some later tonight. I will post some more later and start my own thread...also take some screen shots.

You do NOT want to install windows, or anything for that matter, if you have not tested for stability. All it takes is one millisecond of instability durring the install and you will find out about it later.

I am a hardware reviewer for Avault.com. I don't have time to play with my own toys like that. I have a dual Xeon for stability, this is just my on the side toy and LAN party rig.

Need any partners?
Not really but I can honestly say that it is a pain in the butt job. Yea you get alot of really cool toys to play with and never really have to buy computer parts but my computer room is always a mess as is the garage, and any other place that a box can fit into. Tonight I spend 6 hours benching some new DDR2. Last night I started writing a case review and am around 1/3 finished. Lets just say that Bawls and Jo-Mints are a reviewers best friend when products roll in like these.
On the plus side, I am leaving for Vegas tomorrow night and will be gone till early Tuesday morning.
Just a question. HOw did you get your Processor up to 4.2 GHz with the voltage so low?!?!. Lol. I tried 4.0 around 1.55 Voltage (default), but my mobo went into panic mode and I couldn't boot up.

To be honest, my chip didn't need much of any voltage. I honestly think I could have done it with less voltage. It must have been a particularly good chip.
Of course, I don't have the chance to test anymore, as the computer is gone to live out the rest of its days at stock with its rightful owner.

thats when you have to order a new one from the egg nextday and test it then ship off the lesser of the 2 while you keep the great clocker.

If I had the money, I would.. but I'm actually pretty broke.
It's sort of sad when you make other people such cool toys, but end up with a piece of junk for yourself.
Right now, I am actually getting myself a nice system.. Just need the core components.. However, I'm still certainly going with AMD.

That is possibly the sadest thing I have heard all day. :eh?:
