Ok, Im making a ghetto wc system for an old XP1600+ cause I was bored, and so far Ive got 10 feet of Home Depot 1/2id 3/4od tubing (doesnt kink unless bent back on itself :D), and an Eheim 1048 & Escort HC being shipped to me. Anyways, after a lot of looking around, I decided for a really ghetto block, I make a popcan (http://www.overclockers.com/tips980/) block, out of a 2x3x1/2 Cu110 block, and simply drill holes in the copper for mounting it.
I am just about to order my $6.44 block of copper, please tell if I should get a different size, or if I should choose a different really simple block design!!!
BTW, Ill post pics once I finish everything over next the two weeks, I have to go on a school trip next week

I would not suggest using the aluminum in a pop can, the combination of the aluminum with the copper would literally destroy the aluminum very quickly. You could always make a waterblock from copper or something like this:

a lot less bother to make and use. the one shown above only cost me about $5. or so to make. I have been using it for close to a year now with no problems at all.
also, 1/2 for the copper is too thick

What are those copper pipe cap things? Ive seen a few people make blocks out of those.
What you'd be doing is making a flat flow block. Id aim at something atleast like swifties old mcw462. Start with a flat base then make dimples right where the inlet is "shooting."

Use a copper base, barely drill into the base to make the dimples, then use the copper cap as the block's top. All youd need is the copper stock, copper cap, drill, and some JB weld.

Aw, but the popcan block is so totally ghetto.....
Well, right now Im leaning toward a copper can block, going on top of 1/4" Cu110 plate, with 1/2" in/outlet.
I dont know about doing your block ghettocomp, this is my first block, and that looks too neat for me
Thanks for all the replies, itll get done, trust me.
