Just curious...
One to sits in front of his pc playing games for about 6+ hours?
Or one that has computers on the brain?

I concider myself a hardcore gamer. As of current, I don't have a job, nor am I attending college. I wake up at noon, start up my rig, and play Last Man Standing Instagib (Unreal Tournament) until about 3:00, then I change to CounterStrike, and go from server to server until around 8:00PM, at which point I make Mac-N-Cheese for dinner, then continue playing while I shovel noodles into my mouth.
Gaming continues with various games (UT Deathmatch, Half-Life Deathmatch, Quake 3 Urban Terror, Counter-Strike) until around 3:30AM, at which point I cuddle up with whatever Star Wars novel I'm currently reading, and read myself to sleep around 5:00AM.
The schedule will change from day to day, depending on wether I have friends over, or what's on Cartoon Network or Comedy Central (I'm 19 and I like cartoons, what's wrong with that?). Bathroom trips have to wait until a map change, or if I'm about to pop.
I think that pretty much ensures I'm a hardcore gamer, don't you? :cool:

This morning I finally got around to poping a network card
in my spare system.
From 2:00pm to 8:30pm I was playing UT or Unreal Gold.
From 8:40 to 10:30 I was playing virtual pool.
Does that qualify for both ?
I bet both is the answer you get the most here.....

When I first got Civ I, I installed it after work on a friday and started playing. The next thing I know my roomies are at my door asking if I'm ready to go to work. It was 3 pm monday.

Harcore, baby! I'm a Quaker, most of the time, but recently been playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which is far greater than any multiplayer experience I've tried(which is a LOT, besides EverQuest+other MMRPGs, cause they're supposed to be worse than crack).
Most recently I've become a hardcore forum poster, though...look at my register time, and how many posts I've accumulated! ahhhhh! Forums are my addiction, and*(@#! I forgot to do my calculus homework!!

Looks like I'm an odd one here. I sit on the Microsoft Gaming Zone playing Combat Flight Simulator all the time.......either that, or I'm in the chess room, honing my skills by mercilessly beating all comers......
Hardcore = Pasty faced, either too skinny from not eating, or way to chunky from over-snacking, goggle eyed, more concerned where your next PC upgrade is coming from than if you've eaten.......

i was "hardcore", then i couldnt stop messing with my system, now i'm back. i never thought i would ever play UT again, but installed it last night and was playing 4 hours straight. I've started again, games are life now. i sit in class all day, thinking of the best strategy to use in age of empires2, or how to stay alive just a little bit longer in UT or Q3. Games are life. . . People ask me a question and i will reply with a quote from, say, Max Payne, System Shock 2, or thief. . . hardcore am i? Ok. . .i never turned down a naked woman, but i did turn down several offers for going out so i could stay home and play various games. I define a "hardcore gamer" as someone who plays games constantly, as in 5 or more hours of the day. he or she doesnt have to be good (hell, i play a lot more then other people yet i still seem to lose too frequently).

That's what I ended up doing, dual with Win98. WinME is Outta There!
I have lost entire weekends to gaming, and often am amazed at how many hours I lose while in the game...going for 2 days on coffee, some fruit and a few hastily constructed sandwiches is not terribly sensible in terms of health, so the best I can hope for at this point is to leave this world with a joystick in my hand and a big s**t-eating grin on my face....Flight Sims Forever !! :D :D

A hardcore gamer to me would be someone with over 20 videogames and played them at least 6 hours a day me I have 4 and only play 2-4 hours a day. Half-Life with Counter-strike, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 Arena, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000. (Got it just before the pulled it off the shelves)
Every day I try to get in a few hours of counterstrike as q3 and ut are way to....unrealistic...but I did enjoy them for quite sometime. All I could think about when I first got cs was playing cs and my sleep suffered because I worked..so there were a few all night cs sessions then went to work came home started playing again...god I love computer games......

i was literally addicted to that game for over 2 years, there were days i skipped school, called in sick to work and stayed up all night playing that damn game, i try to develop strategy with myself in the bathroom on how i can defeat the protoss while being the zerg(i am always the zerg) while suffering the least amount of casualties. but maintaing my grounds on the map, it gets worse,my friends mom worked at an elementary school, well nice new network with over 100 comps on it, me and 7 other friends would go over there on friday night and play on the school network until after 12 at night, yeah stay at an elementary school that late and you start to sing little kids songs, god gots to quit talking about that game, btw anyone ever wants to play just msg me :)

wow! Some of u guys are pretty hard core... and here I thought I was hardcore. hehe. I usually play from about a half hour after I get home from work til around 10 (5 hrs). Go to bed and do it again the next day. lol. Weekends....forget about it. All day sometimes. But now since I no longer have a girlfriend, I guess I'll have to get out more and game less. For those of u that can turn down a naked woman to play, that IS hardcore. Not sure I could do it. :D

Dang guys I am sort of a seasonal hardcore gamer like when I first go BG2 then the expansion I played alot , I consider you to be Hardcore when your dreams are about the game you've been playing.

He is a member of a game clan. An online brotherhood. And treats his fellow members with respect that he would a family member.
If he isn't a member of a game clan he treats everyone with respect.
He doesn't cheat, he plays with the best intentions.
People leave when he joins the server.
He has built his computer around games.
I am a proud member of XDC. The Dark Circle. (We used to be Ten Dark Circles hence the X, but when we went over ten members we changed it to The) It is a game clan that started in Heavy Gear, moved to Heavy Gear II, then to DFLW, Tribes2, Diablo II. We play to be the best. We are a brotherhood. A family. A team. We owned HG, HG2. We own Diablo. We are taking DFLW by force. We are taking TribesII by force. We are only about 20 member, yet we are 20 of the best. We have met the others in our clan. We are tightnit. We attack in numbers. I have represented the XDC in a Heavy Gear II tournament held at Activision headquaters in LA. I left victorious (and $5000 richer).

I would say a hardcore games is defined mor by the computer used than # of hours played. A hardcore games builds his own, and casual gamer uses a dell, ibm, gateway, or (shudders) compaq. A casual gamer has to look at the system requirements to see if he can run that cool new game, a hardcore already knows he can.
damn it :mad: i cant get those friggin cross hairs to work for the sniper rifle... :eek: i went into the config menu and binded the keys "zoom in to say the letter n" and "zoom out to say the letter d" and they still dont work!!! :mad: i am a verteran gamer and i know how to bind my keys even in the console and i cant get the damn thing to work aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh :mad: i cant even use the binoculars!!!! :mad: i left the bind to "B" and they dont work i worked on anther bind say "o" and NOTHING aarrgghh anybody help!!:D

XDC eh? I've seen u guys in DFLW from time to time. I'll have to get on ur server sometime and see what all the hubub is all about. Do u have a dedicated server running? If not, where do ur guys (or u) usually play?
Whoa! theres more like me, heh. I am just like you guys, well not as much lately but I am. Before I had to work, I would just play all day every day. I play everquest, have for 2 years, its dominated my life. Curse that game, yet I am at the top of the game in eq, so its hardly a time to stop playing. Have also played counterstrike since it came out. I play that for whole days at at a time too. I have passed up going over to the g/fs for sex, just to play computer games, it used to be that bad. But now I dont pass it up unless there is something big going on in EQ or something. So anyway, ya I am hardcore, its what I do with ALL my free time literally, unless I am out with the g/f. Two things will stop you all from being hardcore gamers as you grow up: 1. A woman 2. A job. I have both and it kills my free time, yet I still come up with time to do it. Thank god she works wknds, more time for me :):)
PC, Playstation, Playstation 2, N64, Gameboy Advance, Dreamcast, Sega Genesis. 5.1 surround on 'em all (except the GBA, naturally). TV is the enemy. It's only use is to attach to consoles.

for allmost 4days strait it was on My Vacation time from School..the worst part is i live with my dad and my sis and my girlfriend is here 24/7 but no one ever toled me to get off they just talk and i go...hun ya..ok...sure...can you get me a coke baby....hunn...ya ok.....thx :) i was soooo tired i slepted 18hours woke up and played for a other 9hours then finaly i lost power to my house and took a shower :P LOL i read some post at the top and YES i have refused Sex to play on my pc well not realy refuse just not lisaning :o) well i do not consider myself a HardCore Gamer well close but i still SUCK at CS and UT And Q3 and well i sux at all games pretty much but EQ is the best if you did not have to pay 9.99$us there would be more peps playing but hey there are 20+ server with 2000 ppl playing but it would be nice to see my lame friend play a game they did not DL :P allso just whanted to add i played 4months D2 and 4years Of D1 ( Diablo 1&2 ) LOL i was hardcore then but not so much now ;( i lost it but at lest my grades weent up 75% hehehe ooops my GF is naked hmmm im not playing any games :D :cool: :D Off to wonderland Cya

I play on ayonae ro. I have four EQ accounts. I dont trade much. I have two level 60s bard and cleric, one lvl 55 monk, one 55 enchanter and a 51 druid. I play very high end raids, sleepers tomb and ntov, thats about all I do there. Played for 2 years, over a year in played time. So sorry, I am a hardcore gamer. If you play EQ then you understand me. anybody who plays Everquest is hardcore! My roommate worked at EPIC and they would play Unreal all day at work adn then play Doom at night. He would just go home to shower and sleep. When you work for the company I guess that is good but I still think it is a little too hardcore.
I only play UT for about two hours a day! still a great game.

We usually hang out in Zebra Orlando from time to time. It's in the Public servers, usually the first page. We don't run our dedicated server anymore, no one would play with us, so we pretty much just pick a good fast server and take it over, lol.
5 or 6 of us play DFLW. Look in the player stats under Medics for XDC-NOE MERCY, he's one of the top 15 medics in the world. The rest of us usually don't play on the stat servers.
Since Heavy Gear II was no longer a challenge for us and was ruined by hackers we have been looking for a game for all of our clan to play. It's hard to find a game that everyone likes. Half play Diablo II and they are just running rampant over there, those guys and gals are GOOD!. The rest of us play DFLW and Tribes 2, and those guys and gals are awesome.
We have one girl in our clan that plays T2 and I would bet my next paycheck that she could take any guy you put up against her.
You have to be a tight nit family to survive for as long as we have as a clan. We have been around for almost 5 years strong. We have 20 members that have met most of each other. We had a member move from Louisiana to Florida, he's currently living with me until he gets on his feet. That is tight nit.

every time i switch to a new game the first thing i see when i go to bed are the units from the game... oh well. gotta game

I guess I was the same way back when Q2 came out. Each day I would daydream about what would I run into next. What new map and adventure would be instore for me tonight when I get home. I still daydream about games but don't have much time with a family. I have been hacking my way through Half life and am almost done. Ahh sweet sorrow. Now thinking of what my next adventure will be. Who knows............
hehe i never played Halflife the stand alone i just play CS and other mods i do not like it that much...well hey its just me ;)

um..well - my definition of a HARDCORE gamer is someone who:
- Runs sideways alot (read: strafe)
- Crouches down in some corner in the street with a friend
crouchjumping on top - when people walk pass and ask
what the f*** we r doing we say "We r camping!"
- Starts shooting at anything that moves, and just to be sure
starts shooting at anything that doesn't move
- Everytime he/she throws something shouts "Fire in the hole!"
- Says "Affermative" and "Negative" a lot
- Wears a headset w/microphone and carries a keyboard around
hitting key F11 whenever talking to someone
- Quick-peeks around corners
(uumm..have I played this game enuff yet??)
