Ok when first building my pc OCing was big on my mind so I purchased the ram in my sig (Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency 184 Pin 512MB(256MBx2) DDR PC-3200 with Platinum-Silver Heat Spreader) which still sells on newegg for $180 i believe.

I have since stopped OCing as much and use my PC for some games, CS, NFSU, and Rome total war. But mostly just for internet surfing, I rip lots of music, and I do some photo editing with photoshop.

Ok now the big question "would i be better off selling my current ram and buying a gig of value ram at the price i would sell my current ram?" How much do you think I could get for my ram, i didnt overclock it much, and what ram should I buy to replace it.

THanks

Your best bet would be to keep what you have, 512mb is a reasonable amount of memory and you have top shelf ram. Second choice is sell to make up your 1 gig, in reality the differences between ram with tight timings (such as yours) and value ram is usualy 3-5% which hardly justifies the cost of "hi performance" ram when you can usualy buy twice as much of the value ram. It all comes down to what you'll be doing, you might see some improvement in gaming going to a gig. As far as ripping and photo work I doubt you'll notice any differences, video would be a different story of course.

I second that. I think you always take a loss when you play the buy and sell game, and if you quality ram you might just as well keep it.

how about this?? sell ur corsair. buy 2x512 ocz value vx or the twinmoss tsp(utt chips for about 150/160.00. then buy a ocz vdimm booster to allow for 3.5 volts. that way u can run the new memory at 2.2.2.5 with a 5/4 ratio, cause the pc3700 probably wont go as fast as u need for a 2.4c in 1-1.. that way youll probably have better bw(even at 5/4). secondly if u decide to get a faster cpu ie a 3.0 or 3.2 then u will be able to run up to about 250/260 @ 2.2.2.5 1-1 which is perfect for a those 2 cpu's. thirdly more and more games simply need a fast cpu and a gig of ram. forthly it will probaly only cost u 100.00 or so if u sell the corsair..

now if the corsair is bh5 then i would just go with another 2x256 of bh5

I would suggest TCCD ram over the utt stuff but then again you are on a intel setup

Yeah this ram is only ch5 or something along the lines of that, no bh5 here.
