View Full Version : Counter Strike is not working with my computer for some odd reason

Not too long ago I was playing CS on another computer just fine, however here, just getting broadband I figure I will go for it. I download steam and everything, and both steam and counter strike will randomly lock up and be "Not Responding" according to the task manager. The same thing happens when I am loading up to play, it downloads the security module, but as soon as it gets to "precaching resources" it locks up. I tried re-installing and everything.

My system specs:

AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred B 1.755GHz
Abit KD7 KT400 motherboard
256X2 PNY ram
Saphire ATi Radeon 9000 Pro 128mb
Windows XP Pro.

that happens to me on the first intallation. make a lan server and let it load every thing. then try online.

ya steam is funky check the properties of the game and make sure its competely downloaded.............i think it will say 100 percent or "ready" or something like that

Here is what I have when I click on properties. And I cannot get it to update no matter what I do. :(

EDIT: Oh, maybe it is updating on its own. That number is now 26 percent.

yeap it's updating... when that % = 100 you'll be good to go. Good luck.

Well, thanks guys, but it works now! I am having so much fun! I think they have improved the glock allot since I last played though. On the first round I don't even bother with getting a deagle anymore.

no thats counterstrike. see i told u. steam is weired.

when that happens just let yo comp lock up. its just downloading files. and it should be don being locked up after like 10 minutes. this happens to me every time i install steam.
