Right now I have a Netgear MR814. I have my main computer connected directly to it, and two connected wirelessly.

I'm planning on moving my main computer to another room. The problem is that my DSL was installed in such a way that I can only have my DSL modem plugged into one outlet in the house. So basically, I'd like my router to be in a room by itself, and all the computer clients would be wireless.

However, it seems some setup options on the router have problems working with the wireless computers. For example, if I clicked "Setup access list" from a wireless computer, my connection would freeze, and the only way to set it up would be through the computer directly connected to the router.

Anyway, was I doing something wrong, or do routers lose functionality if you're trying to set things up from a wireless client?

To the best of my knowledge, they only reason that the manufactures say that you must use a wired connection to configure, is because if you change a wireless setting on the router, you lose the wireless connection. Then you may not be able to get back in through wireless alone. Otherwise, I have seen no reason that you couldn't use a completely wireless setup.
