View Full Version : best wireless router?
Can anyone recommend the best/good wireless router for under $100?
thanks
I like my USRobotics 8054, it's sold as a 54Mbps router but after a firmware update the speed is increased up to 125Mbps, works great never had a problem with it and it only costs $70, and there are mir until the end of this month too.

the link sys 54mb router i love, no problems yet with 2 wireess laptops and 3 desktops connected.
I like linksys alot. I still use one of their old 802.11b routers, and it has been on constantly for over 6 months without a single hickup.

The one and only should be the Linksys WRT54G or the GS model. This model can be flashed with firmware that allows it to have enterprise type functions all for around 60 bux US

I am way behind on wireless networking... What are the speed addon stuff ?? How much is it ?? How much faster than standard 802.11g??
Also is there likely to be a faster wireless standard within the next 4 or 5 months ?

G is 54kbps while the GS uses speedboost which is supposed to maybe get you to 100kbps or basically ethernet speeds but you have to have the coresponding wireless card for your computers to achieve those speeds. If you dont do a lot of file transferring amongst machines then heck a b router would work as it is still faster than your internet speed.
