I did not change any setings whatsoever and for some reason it doesnt want to play avi files. Mpeg and asf work ok. Now some of you may be thinking "just use realplayer or the divx codec"the playa" and heres the answer. Realplayer wont show the video when i fullscreen it and the "playa" only plays about 20 mins until it has an illegal operation. If someone could reccomend a player or anything else i would be grateful. One small note..the only real major thing ive done is make my swap file a gigabyte from the windows manganed one. Thanks.

the absolute best media player available: Sasami2K (http://www.sasami2k.com)

WMP sucks....i havent used it in over a year now. winamp + sasami2k = all the media playing i need.

If you're running Win98 and trying to play an *.avi file that's compressed with the Indeo 4.x codec, there might be a missing entry in your system.ini...

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type sysedit (without quotation marks), and then click OK.

On the Window menu, click System.ini.

In the [drivers32] section of the System.ini file, add the following line:

VIDC.IV41=ir41_32.ax

On the File menu, click Save.

On the File menu, click Exit.

Restart your computer.
