View Full Version : only getting 900mhz out of my 1.2Ghz T'bird
Hello,
The subject says it all. It is a 266 1.2Ghz T'bird. I can only get it to run at 100mhz FSB. It will post but stops just before it loads the operatings sytem. I know it isn't a memory problem as I can run 100 mhz FSB on the CPU and 133 to the memory without any problems.
I am using a PC-Chips 810LMR mainboard. It doesn't have any overclocking options other than changing FSB speeds 100 or 133. What should I look at? Try to increase the voltage by penciling L7 cache?
Anything else?
Thanks

How are you getting 100FSB and 133Mhz memory? FSB+PCI I'd guess? if that's the case are you remembering to switch that off when you put the FSB to 133?

it's the board........if i remember correctly the board is only rated for a duron, i wouldnt run something overrated on a PCCHIP mobo as they use crap components(capacitors, etc) and they barely provide enough power to the cpu just to run

its your chipset , I had the same problem , you can unlock the bridges and up your clock multipler to get 1200 till you get a new motherboard thoughe ,that will work for the time being.

Hahahahahaaa...you're killin me. Why in heavens name would you buy something like that. Those are for OEM system integrators who sell crappy computers to ...... ok I'll stop there.

I know that and have no problem with that. The box has one purpose, it folds proteins for the overclockers Folding@home (http://www.overclockers.ws/folding/) team.
I bought as cheap as possible to get a folding rig up. I just wanted to know my options on getting my T'bird back up to 1200. This isn't a machine I would use day to day.
Thanks for the advice though ;)

Well said, Alex we are here to help and not to flame others, got it?
We all started once, right?!
Ok, so we all stay nice and friendly and help that guy out..
But I must admit Alex might be right. The PC Chips mobos are as notorious as Orbs around here....
So I bet you would solve your prob if you got a decent mobo..
If you need recommendations which one to buy, just post here.
