I have a p III 866 133 mhz my board is a asus p3c 2000 intel 820 chip set, 256 ram gforce 2 mmx 400 video card I would like to try and over clock my stuff but I have no idea how to do it.mainly my cpu.
But have no idea on how to do it whatsoever.I'm hoping this will help my framerate out in n4racing.Not sure though cause my system resources drop down to 86 and have no idea why.Any help I can get would greatly be appreciated I wouldn't even know where to go to try this overclocking stuff I just stumbled across this by accident.I know a lot of people who do this but don't know how they do it
Thanks DShaver

Firstly, you either need you motherboard in Jumper Free Mode, or if it doesnt havea jumper free mode you will need to look up in the manual which jumpers adjust the FSB. Increase this a little at a time, either from jumpers on the MOBO or settings in the BIOS, make sure you check the temperature of the chip in the bios at the very least and ideally download Motherboard Monitor 5, just search for MBM 5 with a search engine. in general its best to keep your temps as low as possible, ive been told 50 is getting too hot for an intel chip but im no expert so ask around here a bit!

Hi DShaver_FLM, welcome to the Forum,
To OverClkock your chip, you must first of all check the temps with MotherBoardMonitor, like just sayed by Random Nonsense, and you can found it at http://mbm.livewiredev.com/
If the Cpu temp is around 40 degree C @full load (100% load) you can enter into the Bios at startup and rise the Fsb (System Bus) from the original 133 to 140 or 150Mhz, and if not stable rise also a little the VCore (Cpu voltage) but not over the 15% of the rated value.
The only probs that you can have are about your mem module that can handle or not frequencys over the 133Mhz, and the Cpu temps that OverClocked never must go over 50 degree C, but 45 C or less are better!
I hope it helps, but if you need of more info don't esitate to aks us :)

You might want to read the beginners guides on this page first to give you a general idea of how overclocking works...
It would also be very helpful for us if you would put as much system specs as possible in your signatur as most of us do..
So, we allways know what you are talking about
Good luck and welcome to our Forum!
COOLING! First before overclocking you must do cooling mods (good CPU cooler, thermal paste, extra case fans, etc.). Heat is the enemy. Second, while overclocking your CPU will increase gaming framerates to a point, a better way to do that is to invest in a better video card. By the way, most new video cards can be overclocked too.

Guys I really appreciate all your help .You guys are great. And are a lot of help I will try this stuff .Batboy I am running a g force mmx 400 64 meg I haven't tryed to over clock it yet though.I'm working on seeing why my resources are dropping so much for one thing I got most everything shut down .Ido want to thank all of you guys for the help and with you guys help I'm sure I will accomplish my goal
Thanks DShaver_FLM
Check to make sure you don't have a virus on your computer. The GF2 MX cards are good, I have one myself except it's an older 32 meg one. It's been a good card, but it's out of date now. The GTS, Pro, Ultra, and now the GeForce 3 are all better cards. If you're a hardcore gamer, you may want to start saving up for a new vid card. I know it's expensive, but you'll get fragged if you don't. I have a new GF3 on order right now, should be in my hot, sweaty hands tomorrow I hope. The GF2 Ultra is a great card and is getting fairly reasonably priced nowadays.
