Best way to paint plastic

im trying to paint scratched up plastic on my pda but dont want to go and just spray paint it and get that cheap glossy look. how do i get like an ipod finish like the cutom paint jobs they do? am i going to have to strip the existing paint and then primer it just like a car or is there some other way like w/ acrylic paint?

Try vinyl dye. Look in automotive stores.

Only problem with vinyl dye is kind of a limited selection of colors.

There's a thread in Alternative Modding about painting drive faceplates that you might want to look up. Also there is a lot of experience in that section about such things, so you might get better answers there.
