View Full Version : Win98SE/Win2K/WinME for 6 Dollars
All University of Texas students get their choice of Microsoft Windows versions for $6. The disc comes in a jewel case with no documentation, do you guys know anything about Windows without a "key"? I have Windows 95 now, which one should I get? Thanks in advance.

That's a new one me. I've never seen one without a key. Even warez stuff, they all gotta have some kind of key code.

Unless they are some kind of OEM or MSDN release, those have the cd-key's already in place. Once you run the setup and it comes to the "Enter Your CD Key" I bet you will find the key's already been entered and all you have to do is click past it.
Either way it is more than likely a warez release. Come on, this is Micro$oft we are talking about here!!! :D
Anyone want to place any bets on how many people buy this and register it? X amount of copies, same serial, all registered to different users. :p
Heck if it is coming from the school I highly doubt that it is "Warez" and the heck the price is right get all three one day a buddy might need one.

True, could have bought a massive amount of bulk copies from M$.
i go to Purdue and the software is $5. But even though you get no doucments the cd key is on the CD. I bout office 200, office xp windows 2000... and so but the only drawback is you can only buy it once from them and they make you sign a form saying so.

Wow, there are good deals out there! At first I misread the post, I thought it was someone or somebodies that were selling these. Kinda surprised to read that the University itself is able to do it.
I would buy the Windows 2000 software right away if I had that deal!

you can make windows not need a key...(2k anyways)
you have to edit the "SETUPP.INI" file in the i386 dir....
but you cant edit a file on a CD....
found out how to do this when i wanted to learn how to make a boot CD....
