Okay I got my SK6 up and running. If I dont have the cooling software (cpucool) on then it idles at 32C
If the software is on then its below 30C

I'm still running at the default of 1.4 so I will update the situation.

Okay at 1.4

Load with case panel off and AC on: 37C
Load with case panel on and AC on: 40.5C

Are these good results? Please reply because this was the first heatsink I have ever installed. (I made a mess and it took several tries to get the clip on. BTW Im worried that I put on too much ASII)

well Im sure you didnt put as much as2 as my friend did

it was his first time putting a computer together so I went over to his house to make sure he did everything right

I took off the heatsind and there was thermal past on the WHOLE
chip!!

Okay after burning in for 6-7 minutes at 1.5GHz the temps were:

Case panel off AC on: 39C

so what do you think of the temps?

yeah well i just got my sk6 with a ystech 40 cfm but my temps are at 50c so i was wondering what could be going wrong im goin to work on how it is on there and see what could be wrong maybe try taking off some as2 seemed a little thick on there.

Running steady at 1.54 GHz
Load temp:

Case Panel off Air Conditioner on: load 39C

FSB at 148

Interesting tip: to get thermal goo out of the pins of a proccessor, use an old toothbrush.

Just thought I'd share :D

hyberbob your temps are cool. ;)

Wildbilly2k,

Your temps are way too high have you got the heatsink on the right way round??? Is the fan blowing air ON to the heatsink??

These are the main two culprits with high temps on a good HSF so try reversing the Heatsink and see where that gets ya....

Arrrgggggggghhhh

Somethings wrong today. At default speed I am loading at 38C!!!! At 1.5 I load at 39C! What is wrong?

BTW I can't get it to be stable at 1.54
Can you guys help?

have you penciled the L1 bridges to up the voltage to 1.85???
or did u just up the FSB, if you did it may not be stable because of the memory u have ;)

Crucial Memory is good for ocing!!

I have the same Heatsink and had to make sure that the heatsink was on the right way. I had it turned around before and my temps were in the low 50c range folding. Now my temps are in the Mid 40c range.

I've done that once or twice and it does make a difference!!!

You should always know when its the wrong way round because the "lip" a little gap at the end slightly offset from the level surface fits over where it says "Socket xxx" on your motherboard where the CPU sits.

hyper bob if you can mod your case just got a space for a fan on the case side panel and put a fan there to blow cold air on to the CPU...

Make sure you have air going out also if your PSU is directly above the CPU does it have holes in it or a fan even...

Enermax PSU have a fan in the under side to suck hot air out the case. Head over the Alternative Modding section for some tips on this.

with the case panel off immediatly means that air is not escaping properly ties your cables back with some cable ties or twist ties. Mount another fan blowing hot air out to get rid of hot air...

Many people mod their cases and can look pretty darn cool after you've done it ;)

ok i got it to touch the chip more and my temps are 45c @ 1.33 but i think it could be lower im thinkin that my case temps are holding back cause there at 41c im goin to get some more fans cause i only have 3 in there right now. so im sure that will do it.

It also depends on your room temp. I have a cold room in my house which is effectively a room with non insulated walls no celing insualetion and single glazed Windows this keeps the temparature at about +15C at night and 20C in the day which is cold enough for me

What heatsink did you say you had???

A few more case fans will help, are you going to mod your case??

i have an sk6 with ys tech 60mm 40 cfm fan. my room temp is 26c cause i live in arizona (where you can fry an egg on a rock)!!!

you should also consider an air conditioner if you haven't already got one.

I don't need one because of my "cold room" but I think that would help as well.

Have you solved the temp problem yet?

i have an air conditioner but my parents dont like it that cold in the house
