I found out while installing my first heatsink that my retail box 1.4GHz tbird had an AXIA Y core. Is that good or bad?

AXIA-Y's are good for overclocking. They were the best for 'clocking until the AYHJA's and AYHJA-Y's came out. You can try checking out the CPU database on the www.overclockers.com pagre for results, but I think you will be happy with it. :) Good luck

But I got this thing only a month ago! Why is it AXIA? Most of everyone elses is ayhja! Could it be because it came from a retail box.

Must have sat in a warehouse with someone for a while before it got sold maybe? I dunno. Be happy, at least you didnt get a ARGA :)

Well it fits well with my A7M266 mobo that isnt too good with OCing. Hey can you check out my temps in the cooling forum?

AYHJA's are the best for overclocking, but the chip have is a beast also. You are going t obe very satisfied with your purchase...

You are indeed fortunate.. Im living up here in WI and my 800 TBird idles at 45C, and loads out at 50C. And Im just running it at 9.5X100! Clock on.

I have a 1 gig axia Y at 1400. It'll do 1466 but not pass prime test at that speed. I'm very happy with it.

Idle 38c load 43c

axia is a awsome chip

you can oc 400+ out of thim with good enough cooling

I have a axia 1.2 266 and can post at ~1.6 but my temps where too high and I didnt think it was worth the extra 100mhz

I like my AXIA Y I can run it at 1.45 all day but its so warm here I just run mine anywhere between default and 1.45 usually 1.3 or 1.38.

1.2 Default@37°C-39°C idle
38°C-41°C internet
42°C load

1.45 39-42idle
41-44 internet
46 load

All at default core voltage via the L bridges but I think my mobo 8k7a rev 1.1 feeds an extra .1 volts to my cpu just like my ram.

MBM 1.85 core volts
System bios 1.85 core volts

And I hope I do so correctly.. the steppings goes like this as far as 'clocking... from worst to best... ARGA, AFFA, AXIA, AXIA-Y, AYHJA, AYHJA-Y.
