Guys summer is just around the corner and am thinking of getting my self a system for my car. The only thing is that I dont know jack about audio (especially car audio) Am willing to spend $1500. I bought my head unit already and component speakers for my car. ($500 Alpine) I got $1000 to spend on subs amp box wireing and labor. This audio shop my my house seems ok, but i wanna shop around. Everyone tells me to buy my stuff online.

Whats the newegg for caraudio? Also what are some brands that i should stick with.

Thanks guys any help will do.

:D I'd check out ebay once you get some price comparisons from stores. They have hundreds of amps and subs that are new.

I'm interested in the Newegg of caraudio question too.

Crutchfield is the only place online I trust for car audio. Some of those cheap places just sell refurbished as new.

Crutchfield can have very very high prices though for subs especially. I just use it to see what will fit and to give me a price comparison. The sellers on ebay will tell you if it's a refurb or not if you buy from a power seller. It's not hidden either so it's not like they lie to you about it.

www.sounddomain.com will pricematch most stores (even online). Also you can check various classifieds sections of different audio forums, but be careful, as none of them are as safe as ours here.

Can you built your own box? Are you going more for SPL (loudness) or SQ (sound quality)? How big is your trunk?

www.thezeb.com , do not buy name brand! Build your own box if possible and please do it your self to save some of that $1000.

i just had them price match a panasonic head unit for me model 5301 and after the price match you don't get free wiring harnesses, so its 20 cents more expensive if i use a price match.

how much crap is that :argue:

I own 2 ten inch sony P5 subwoofers and I love them... I don't know what the beef is that everyone has about them

They're fine for alot of people, but generally they're overpriced, and you can get better SQ (subjective) - and higher SPL's out of similarly or lower priced alternative subs.

heres what i would suggest

first off www.onlinecarstereo.com awsome prices, and great service

ok onto the subs

2x JL audio W3v2 , these suckers hit hard, and clean, i say they are better then infinity when it comes to subs

front speakers

Infinity 6000CS , these are awsome entry level component speakers that sound just plain awsome, and they are easy to just run off your deck, if not we will talk about amps a bit later

rear speakers

infinity 9602i 6x9"

now i am not sure what car you drive, but i suggest just getting some decent coaxil 6x9's for the rear, you dont get the greatest sound positioning from the rear, and you just dont sit in the rear do you? thought not, lol, just you will want some quality,

amps

these new infinity amps are some of the best amps i have seen for a long time!
but you will have to go to crutch field for them

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4ECEsbsCC1h/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=108R7541A

great for all your main speaker needs

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4ECEsbsCC1h/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=130&I=108R610A

and awsome for all your sub needs, just run the subs in parralel

now onto the box

JL audio has a great design for a single sub box design that will about tear off all the panels on you car at medium volume if you are not safe! :D

i say just build a 2 twin chamber ported box, and that will do everything that you want, but mind you these JL subs will do awsome in a sealed one also, so if you want even cleaner bass to add to the alread hard bass, that might be what you want!

well hope that helps, and good luck

BTW i like Streetwires for my cableing, but thats me,just dont put your speaker cables close to your patch cables
