I need some suggestions on a speaker system. All I have right now is a cheap Dell 2.1 setup. I would like another 2.1 system, but would like to stay under $100.00 if possible.

Hmm, are you interested in bass? Do you want loud? Small, compact speakers? Do you want a sub at all? Style?
For the best I'd get klipsch 2.1 THX (NOT GMX)...they're round 125 from pricegrabber
Or ones that are louder but not as tight the logitech Z-2300...they're a little cheaper.
For style just checkout newegg...If you want quality though your best bet is just going with the klipsch or logitechs...or step up to 4.1 (don't need to run them in a 4.1 setup you can have 2 to the left and 2 to the right.

I looked at the two you suggested and I think I like the klipsch 2.1 Pro Media better. A little more than what I wanted to spend, but I looks like it would be worth the extra $$$.

my friend had the klispch 4.1 pro media for 3 years until the amp died and started putting out white noise. he needed a cheap replacement so i got him two KLH BF220 bookshelf speakers for 32 shipped off ebay (its BIN price, u could get it cheaper) and a cheap stereo reciever (entry line onkyo) for 50, he says it sound better then his $300 klipsch minus a little bass, but hes ****ed he didn't know about it earlier. i'm suprised as well, and plan to get myself some.
The Klipsch 2.1 (non THX) put out an unbelievable amount of sound. You would think they are are much larger bookshelf speakers from the sound volume. They are great for gaming or watching DVD's. I'd have to describe the sound as "in your face" as the horns give a great deal of presence to the sound. The bass is more than enough for a boom addicted listener. I got rid of my old 4.1 system for these as poor speaker placement made the benefits of the 2 extra speakers negligible.

no offence man, but they don't. i have a few on the floor 2 ft away from me and i've been playing with them all week. a lot of bookshelf speakers are louder and sound better. the fact is you're paying for the name, not the product. i don't want to start an arguement on this, but i'd really hate to see people waste their money. i actually take a lot of time testing out these speakers with frequency generators and test out things like accuracy as well as how flat the responce is. heres a pic of my bench/test corner, the klishph is on the bottom right..

I don't want to start an argument either. To me they sound great and I heartily endorse them. Whatever floats your boat. :)
