ok tahnx a bundle man
Use something decent to unlock with. A pencil isn't really the best way.
rear window defogger kit is excellent.
Use isoropyl alcohol 80%+ to clean the cpu if you screw up the application. Also works really nice for removal of artic silver.

You can get it at any auto parts store. Yes it is fine to use pencil till you get it.
A rear window defogger repair kit should be available from any reasonably decent auto parts store.
Conductive pens are available form Radio Shack and Chemtronics.
Using a pencil in the meantime won't hurt a thing as long as you're careful with your heatsink. You may not overclock as well with the pencil trick however.

No doubt that the rear window defogger kit or conductive pen is a more permanent solution. However, many people including myself have had very good results with the pencil. If you haven't got access to the "defogger" kit or conductive pen, I would recommend that you use the pencil and leave it at that until you have another reason to remove the heat sink. Why risk damage to the processor if not necessary?
By the way, I've got one of my DURON 600's @ 1100MHz with the pencil for about eight months now, and a 1G AXIA T-BIRD @ 1.4 for about three months also with a pencil.

Yes, many people have good results with pencil. Others have reported that switching to another method gave them better overclocking. That's why I said "may" rather than "will". I suspect that success with a pencil has a lot to do with the compostion of the specific pencil used, the quantity of material actually deposited on the traces, and the vagaries of particular chip.
I'm currently getting dodgy overclocking from a Duron 750 bridged with pencil. I don't know for certain that the pencil is at fault, although I'm suspiscious of it. I'll let y'all know after my conductive pen arrives in a few days.

guys... what are the signs of bad penciling? I'm penciled my duron 850 and the highest multiplier I can boot at 133 Mhz is 7.5. Can I go higher than the 7.5x?

u will know if you screwed up when you can only use certain multipliers, that simple
speaking of unlocking...anyone know if that is nesessary for a 1.4 athlon...i think i read somewhere that my mobo is set up to unlock without the "pencil trick"..but i really cant remember where...oh my mob=8kta3

The 1.2GHz & up Thunderbirds with 266FSB are usually unlocked. The 200FSB versions are usually locked.
I used a conductive ink penn just to be able to rule out that variable.
hey thanks man :) good to know :)
