A Guy at work Gave me a Home Movie DVD from a collection of 8mm video footage, I don't know who made it, or if he has watched it yet.

Media Type is RiDATA
I was unable to View the Movie using Power DVD5

My LG DVD Rom is able to Open and view the contents of the DVD which contains a Video_TS folder

My HP DVD writer Claims the Drive is not accessable while the disk is in it.

I tried using DVD Shrink and was unsuccessful in finding media to rip.

Anyone have any suggestions to Copying?

I've Ripped Many Movies to AVI for my HDD, but this is to be the first time I Copy a DVD to a DVD to play in a set top player

i'd say bad media...alot of bad ridata media was going around not too long ago...

since it's not encrypted i'd say try and use your lg drive to transfer the files via windows..if you cant do it that way there really isnt much u can do since the media is garbage. maybe have him make you another copy on good media

Thanks for the advice

this is what I did

Put LG drive in another Linux PC, sharing the drive as a network drive,
I opened it on the Windows PC usinging DVD Shrink and coppied it to the HDD. then used CDburnerXP pro to put it to a DVD

Regarding the disc:

It depends on which RIDATA disc it was. The older 4X RIDATA discs were great, but the 8X discs were sketchy.
