Overheating? Try cleaning your exhast/intake ports and heatsink, and apply AS5.

Good place to start, right there.

Knowing what the BSOD itself says takes all of the guesswork out of things.... ;)

If you have tested the RAM with memtest and tried reinstalling the OS after running the hard disk diagnostic tools I would do as diggingforgold suggested. A can of compressed air can go a long way. Also make sure the FAN is working.

What are you doing when it BSODs? Gaming? Heavy disk access? Does it happen randomly?

It isnt the ram because i have replaced it with new sticks and i get the same message.

I get the BSOD only on startup. I can go to the bios just fine. As windows loads i automatically get a BSOD.

It isnt the HDD or the OS because i have pulled a working harddrive with a working OS from a Working 8200 and swapped it and got the same thing.

i cant remember what it says off hand ill copy it and respond

id really like to not have to tear the lappy apart just to apply some thermal paste but if worst comes to worst....

Will it let you get into safe mode? How long will it stay running at the bios screen? Sounds like a job for (Deep Voice) Technomancer!! Or one of the other disk operating systems.

Boot to the Resource CD that came with the computer (says Drivers and Utilities on it). Run the extended 32-bit diagnostics on it.
Also, when you see the Dell screen when you turn it on, do CTRL+ALT+D and this should load the hard drive diagnostics.

it will stay in bios for a decent amount of time,

once the cpu gets a load it seems it just crashes....

Hate to say it but if you've ruled out the memory, the hard drive, and the os, that realy only leaves the mobo and the cpu in a laptop. I would pull the hard drive and then try to run a cdrom based os just because I'm stubborn, although that would just add more questions to the problem.

What's realy needed is the "normal stuff" that your seeing
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324103, say's it's a device driver
This realy looks like what your talking about, even specific to Dell: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;826901
The second set of numbers you gave appears to be short one character, 0xf895560?, once you find that character you can do a search at microsofts support and it'll tell you exactly whats wrong. Good news is that according to them it's software related and not hardware, or at least not broken hardware :) .

Since you've switched hardrives we can forget the boot virus, the first string in the parenthesies is supposed to state what's actually not working but the string we're getting does'nt cross to anything. Did you just install or uninstall anything? Couple of things stated were: possible IRQ conflicts, bios changes relating to the harddrives, can you run the windows recovery disk? Can you get in the safe mode, ie the F8 button on booting then either last good config or just plain safe mode? On googling this exact code only got three hits and could only read one which was unrelated.
Seems that microsoft says if you have'nt changed anything you might have a controller problem, so if you could run from the cdrom/dvd for any length of time to rule out the heat.

Have you tried booting off the CD and reinstalling Windows? Normally that fixes my BSOD.
