i currently have a duron 800,running on an epox 8 KTA2
i was thinking of upgrading to an athlon 1000,or possibly higher

i use my pc for seti@home (24/7) ,mpeg4 encoding and the occasional gaming session

was just after peoples opinions
btw i live in australia, and hardware aint cheap over here
(ie athlon 1000 is about $195 AUS)
may seem like not much, but im a poor student!!

The longer you wait the cheaper everything is. But then there is all this new stuff you want and it is hard to settle. I have no opinion, I'm sorry.:)

well considering the duron 1ghz are the same price as the tbird 1ghz i recomend the duron cause of the Mrgan core is faster than tbirds.

tbirdkiri ... dont forget that the cache is much bigger on the t bird so that makes the t bird a lot faster so i still think the t bird is faster then the duron ...

Besides 1Ghz Tbirds seem to be great overclockers

the duron 1ghz is slower than the athlon 1ghz and is more o/c able apparently

also i have no chance in hell of getting a morgan core
here in AUS
