I wanna format my hard drive. I am running Win 2K. I have the cd and I have created the 4 boot floppies. I set boot sequence on my laptop to floppy,hd, cd rom.
It prompted me for floppy #2 ,3,and 4 once it booted off floppy 1 and ran whatever program it did. Where do I get the option after all 4 floppies have been run to actually format. The choices I was given were to install Win 2K , repair and exit. I wanna format so I can install XP clean.
What am I missing here??
Help please

Hard drive is fat 32 and I plan to convert to ntfs. I saw Trancebear has done a conversion/upgrade from I bel;ieve 98 to XP Corporate and converted database to ntfs and has had no probs.
I need some feedback before I do this, so I am aware of any probs that could pop up. I have seen the os on a friends system and it is super sweet.

you could just re format your drive from your win98 boot disk then convert it to ntfs during the winxp install.
I agree....Use a Win98 startup disk, run fdisk to get rid of the "bad sectors" (if the sections are really bad Windows will mark them bad again) then reboot and format the drive as Fat32. Install XP and have XP convert the drive to NTFS.

You can convert from fat to NTFS with partition magic...5.0 and up (I believe).but there is allways a chance you might lose some of your data. It is allways recomended to back up what is of inportance to you.
