Ever tryed closing explorer while playing a game....unbelieveable how much system memory that takes up...and when u finished playing the game just start it again with system processes...I only just thought to try it lol...I know other people do cuz my mates did it ages ago but yeah...anyone else do this ?

i used to do it back in the 9x days... but now... when memory is so plentiful (1 gig? eh... ain't much that can fill that up)..... i don't worry about it

You will next year. ;)

I have 512 mb and sometimes games can be a little choppy during extreme times. I definately want to upgrade my ram (hmm... 2 gb....), but I'll wait later on when memory gets cheaper for my system. For now, I'm just happy playing CoD and X-2.

ummm what's explorer? what does it do? i know it's in the system processes....

It's the system shell. If you terminate the process then you won't have a task bar or be able to browse for files using Windows Explorer. To kill the process hit ctrl-atl-del, click task manager, right-click on Explorer.exe and click end process. To restart it afterwards, hit ctrl-alt-del again, choose run, explorer.exe.
