I just noticed that my PM message box got bigger. Thanks! Did the forums get a new, larger hard drive?
What size box do you have? Seniors have had a 1k inbox for a while now, not sure what mods have.

I always thought mine was smaller than yours but I can see now it isnt. Quite strange they are both the same size. Although you probably use yours more.

Will be around a byte per character in the database I would think. Assume ~300? words/pm average.
So 300PMs ~ almost 100kb?
I've had 400 for as long as I can remember. I'm at 525 now.

I am sufficiently confident in my own manhood that I don't need to worry about the size of my box.
I always thought mine was smaller than yours but I can see now it isnt. Quite strange they are both the same size. Although you probably use yours more.

I would actually be totally willing to pay iNet for the storage space involved in a larger PM box. It would be worth the ~$5 :D.
I have to empty the thing about once a month, and it is annoying when you accidentally delete stuff that you shouldn't be deleting. In particular, I expect that a lot of the people who heavily use the classifieds here would not mind keeping longer PM records of their transactions.

odd... I only have a 300 PM limit. Oh well... not many people PM me anyways. And I agree with 9mm... download your PMs before you delete them. It is very simple to do and useful if you need to remember something from a PM.
EDIT: WAIT... wasn't the limit like 50 or 100?

Yeah I hate deleting PMs from classified deals. Well, I've got the bigger box now and don't trade that frantically, so I should be okay for a while. Sometimes a single deal can generate 10-15 or so PMs though.
I just wish I could transfer some of these. I also have the 1000 PMs available, but I am a Moderator, over at ABIT's forums, and I have a 50 PM limit. 50? I can blow through that in about 45 minutes, when someone is pulling some s***.
I'd gladly give up 300 or so, just to get an extra 30 over there.

Yes, in a vanilla install of vB it can be done. Its not specific to OCForums.

It happened today!! YAY!!
I've been increased from 50 to 300. Still not enough, but I can finish work on one problem, without having to stop and clean out my PM box, half way through.

EDIT: I should've PM'ed you... but in any case, here it is for everyone. I'll PM you shortly, threeme.
Go to your PM box and scroll all the way down. On the right you will see a sign that says:
Download all Private messages as:
XML | CSV | Text
Click on one of the links and then you will download them to wherever you want. Have fun!
I added a pic below that may help as well... it's at the bottom of your PM Inbox.

Well having my first few classifieds experience I can safely say that filling up 500 will take a LONG time, i have bought 3 things and had intrest in others and all I have is 40 pms this also includes all helping and stuff. Having a tight wallet keeps my pms down :)

Heh, I sometimes download all my PMs once a week, it gets irritating because I KNOW, beyond a SHADOW of a doubt, the day I need to download PMs will be the day my real system is down, so I have to download to X machine, instead of Main Machine, which throws off my entire orginizational scheme.
