View Full Version : Pc2100 Vs. Pc2400
Is it worth the extra money to go with Pc2400 over 2100? Is there a noticeable performance increase? Also, what type of ram should i look for if i plan to o/c?

If you plan to overclocker over 133 (266 DDR) you can do two thinngs:
1.-Buy PC2400. This RAM is tested at 150 MHz FSB (300 DDR). Usually comes in 2.5-3-3 or 2-3-3 latency. This gives you a slow RAM but tested already. You can try to make it run at 2-2-2 and sometimes get it.
2.-Buy Cas 2 PC2100. If the RAM vendor warranties 2-2-2 at 133 it usually will have some oc available. You could (with some luck) get to 2.5-3-3 or even 2-2-2 at 150 or over.

Actually Corsair has pc2400 at cas 2-2-2. Which means that it will run at 150mhz 2-2-2. I have seen reports of this mem hitting up to 180mhz. But crucial mem is pc2100 rated at cas 2.5-3-3 or 2.5-2-2 i think either one. But i have seen it hit up to 177mhz or more. depends on your mobo and cpu.
